Jakarta, July 17th 2014 – PT. Moores Rowland Indonesia (MRI) is proud to announce that the Praxity group of firms in Indonesia, which comprises MRI, Bali-based associate Starling Resources and AJA Sertifikasi Indonesia, has been shortlisted for the prestigious International Accounting Bulletin (IAB) awards under the ‘Sustainable firm of the year’ category.

A previous IAB award winner in 2012 for its human rights audit practice, when trading under the name PT Mazars, MRI is well aware of how difficult it is to compete against the ‘giants’ of the international accounting world. As such, it feels honoured to be the sole Indonesian company shortlisted for this year’s awards and draws strength from the fact that the Praxity Global Alliance, of which it is a member, is also shortlisted under both the ‘Association of the year’ and ‘Rising Star Association’ categories.   

Yet this means more than awards to Moores Rowland and its sister firms as they continue in their endeavours to integrate environmental, human rights and sustainability best practices and stew-ardship into everything they do. Passionate in their beliefs, each firm provides complementary services that best utilize its particular area of expertise.

Besides financial audit and consultancy services, Moores Rowland offers sustainability and human rights assessments, continuing to develop and update methodology for the latter. AJA Sertifikasi, meanwhile, provides certification and sustainability assessments, particularly in the plantation and forestry sector. For its part, Starling specializes in giving clients practical business support in order to roll-out their onshore and offshore environmental projects (putting theory into practice).

Sustainability and human rights are very much ‘new areas’ when it comes to business, not just in Indonesia but across the globe. The fact that MRI and its sister firms have even been considered for such a prestigious award is an acknowledgement of their abilities to provide practical solutions that help address at least some of the demands of business, customers, communities and other stakeholders. The journey may not yet be ended, but at least there is one group of Indonesian-owned firms among those that are leading the way; companies that care.
