SOUTHEAST ASIAN REGIONAL HACKCORRUPTION HACKATHON: GROWING REGIONAL NETWORKS OF ANTI-CORRUPTION CHANGEMAKERS
March 2024
FIHRRST proudly took part in the recent ‘HackCorruption’ Event, uniting changemakers from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand, in Kuala Lumpur from February 22nd to 25th, hosted by the Accountability Lab, the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement at the U.S. Department of State, and the USAID Countering Transnational Corruption Grand Challenge for Development.
During this event, FIHRRST contributed to the ongoing fight against corruption and advocated for a world where human rights are upheld and respected by all. FIHRRST collaborated with BPS, BRIN, and LBH Medan to create a platform aimed at enhancing Open Contracting & Transparency of Public Procurement, and promoting Digital Citizenship to Constrain Corruption in Indonesia.
FIHRRST scrutinized the current Indonesian Open Contracting Data Standard (OCDS), established and published by Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW). While this standard covers several procurement stages such as planning, initiation, award, and contract, it lacks crucial implementation assessment data.
To bridge this gap, we proposed an innovative solution involving creating a platform called “RakyatMenilai” for public reporting. The platform can integrate existing reports, thereby enhancing transparency and accountability in the public procurement process. The “RakyatMenilai” platform can also serve as a hub for citizens to report and assess the implementation of public infrastructure projects.
